Who we are

Tasminé started as a small social group on Facebook of like-minded individuals who wanted to find connections and make long term friendships. Over the course of a year it grew quickly to seven hundred members, proving that throughout the state of Tasmania, there were plenty of people who needed something like this.

Many of the friendships that we ourselves have made were forged at events or meetups celebrating the arts, gaming, cosplay, pop culture, and anime. And with over 15 combined years of experience in the industry, the heads behind Tasminé aim to bring new and exciting events to the youth of Tasmania so that they too can have the chance to celebrate their love for fandom, creativity and unity while making connections and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Personal Mission

Tasmania or lutruwita is a beautiful state situated under the mainland of Australia, but as a state we are often overlooked when it comes to larger scale events suited to our younger demographics.

In Tasmania, our youth suffers greatly from mental health issues, with a higher national average in teen suicide (ABS 2022). It is our personal belief that through creating spaces where likeminded individuals can meet and foster friendships and connections, we can help to avoid feelings of teen loneliness, and to empower our youth to engage with their creativity and passions.

Our personal mission in starting this project was to see those events that would embody this ideal put on with quality, consistency, and professionalism.

Meet the team

My name is Cammie, and I have over 10 years of experience in events management. I spent two years as the president of a not-for-profit helping to create large scale pop culture festivals, and most recently spearheaded the project to bring Tasmania it's first fantasy themed ren faire in Ross.

Ever since I got involved, I've always been extremely passionate about bringing groups of people together to celebrate a common interest. Most of the friends I count today were made at events like these, so it's important to me that Tasmanians have access to a variety of high quality, accessible events where they can make those sorts of long-term connections with people their age.

This is just the beginning of what will hopefully be a successful passion project, so please follow along and I'm sure we'll have some exciting stuff to bring to you very soon!

Hi, I'm Ness!

I have approximately 8 years in event management from my previous not-for-profit positions; with almost 2 years of that as Treasurer, sponsors and vendors coordinator, and special guest coordinator (among many other roles). I have also been vending at events, both in Tasmania and the mainland, for the last 6 years. I've seen both sides, and I'm so hyped to take the lead in making events that other vendors like me will love!

I'm passionate about raising the bar for accessibility and inclusion at our upcoming events, and I hope you're excited to put your faith in us and come along for the ride!
